When I Walk Thru...

I know it has been a looooong time since I given you an update, don’t go and check the last post to see the time stamp just to see just how long it has been, sorry. If you have been following us on Instagram and Facebook, if not please follow us @HarrellEverAfter, then you know that we completed our final walk thru, closed, AND MOVED IN! It has been a very exciting and exhausting 6 months.

The walk thru was pretty painless, our inspector had been there the day before to complete the final inspection. We didn’t have any major issues that needed immediate attention. My biggest concern was the trash that was left in our attic. I have no plans on being in the attic so I would have never known, but it makes me wonder what, if anything, was left behind the walls. I guess that’s just a risk that comes with building a home and subcontractors. Our PM was just as picky as me and he was completely embarrassed that the subs had left the trash and he apologized sincerely. I just hope that the one day we have to bust open the wall I don’t find a plate of Mexican food like I always saw on the floors during the building process.

Although we did not have any major issues I am very happy that we decided to get a home inspector, it was worth every penny. Purchasing a home is a very expensive investment and commitment and just because it is new doesn’t mean that there won’t be issues.

On new builds many advise that a home inspection isn’t need. The thought process is because it’s new and that they are held to a higher standard and blah, blah, blah. The reality is our home was being built by humans, we all make mistakes. And while they may not be intentional or malice, they can happen. Buying a home is the biggest purchase most people buy, do not let any discourage you from getting a home inspection.

The pictures show some of the items that the inspector found during the inspection.

Sewer Pipe- hold needed to be cleaned out and filled
